barrier.

Teaching youngster's is not a

The workshop is fitted out with two variable speed lathes of different

sizes. One is a Vicmark V100 3/4 horsepower on a moveable and

adjustable stand, and the second is a 2 horsepower Wiva-Mac, variable speed secured to the floor.Both lathes have dedicated dust extraction and a clean air scrubber is also located close to both lathes. Other equipment includes grinding facilities, Bandsaw and Pillar Drill together with a sanding machine and various power drills and tools, and table mounted routers.

A large selection of material is always available and also Hamlet Craft Tools are available for purchase at a discount. Henry Taylor turning tools can also be supplied.

Tea and coffee with biscuits served all day

Tuition is also given on the assembly,proper use of and maintenance of

 Lathes, bandsaws, planers and all major woodworking equipment.

Advice on timber material is freely given.

THE WOODTURNING CRUISE

This cruise is a must for all lovers of woodturning. You see the whole coast of Norway and visit some truly beautiful cities that you would never see on an ordinary cruise ship.There is always plenty of time while the ship is berthed to explore or take an organised tour. One such not to be missed is the tour over the Trollstygen. It will take your breath away. Not only that but you will meet,watch and be taught by some of the worlds top woodturners whilst on board. The Norwegians are the most friendly of people and you will be made more welcome than can be described. You also get the chance to do some woodcarving and Pyrography too. The cruise lasts two weeks and you can woodturn all day and evening if that is what you want to do. There is much wood and craft materials and also tools onboard to purchase or you can bring as much of your own as you can carry.You will also meet and make friends with other woodturners from around the world, and with the exchange of ideas and techniques, you will return home bursting with new ideas to try out. Wives are also welcome on the cruise and there will be plenty of activities to keep everyone happy.

Alec has a superb location just off the main Inverness/Ullapool Road about six miles from Ullapool. He has a gallery of turnings and carvings and supplies timber by mail order anywhere in the UK. He is very competitively priced as are his craft supplies. He has demonstrations

once a month in his purpose built demo room and regularly has up to 45 guests at these events which he holds once a month. Entry is free but it is nice if you spend £10 on materials whilst there. He stocks kiln and air dried timbers and also a small amount of exotics. He is a great guy to talk to and his wife is in charge of the gallery and craft supplies and is also very nice to talk to.

Teesside Woodturners Association meet at Hemlington Lake Farm in

Middlesbrough and is the largest club in the region with over 100 members. It is the only one which meets every week on a Wednesday

evening between 5.15pm and 9pm. The club has ten lathes in operation for members use and every third Wednesday a professional

demonstrator provides the entertainment for the evening.Past demonstrator's have been Jimmy Clewes. Tony Wilson, Simon Whitehead

and Sue Harker, Bob Chapman and Alan Trueman.The club also demonstrates locally free of charge to schools, libraries and local shows.
